Frequently Asked Questions:

WHEN AND WHERE DOES GRACE FELLOWSHIP ACADEMY MEET?

We meet at Oriental First Baptist Church, located at 605 Broad Street in Oriental, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30am – 12:00pm. GFA Directors and Faculty will be at the Mini Park (or alternate weather location), at 702 3rd Avenue in Oriental, from 12:15pm-2:00pm if you wish to join us for a lunch and recreation time after school.

HOW MUCH IS TUITION?

Tuition is $650 per month or $5850 per year. Despite being a “part-time” school, GFA has much the same expenses as a traditional, full-time school. We are dedicated to small classroom sizes and a low student to teacher ratio. Full or generous partial scholarships are available to almost every student. Please see our Tuition Assistance page for more information.

IS THERE A MULTI-STUDENT DISCOUNT?

We are not able to offer a multi-student discount at this time.

HOW EXACTLY DOES A HYBRID SCHOOL WORK?

Students receive instruction on campus from professional teachers two days a week. All lesson planning, preparation, and curriculum instruction will be done by the teacher. On your days together at home, your role could be described as a “private tutor” as you help your child with work assigned and previously explained by the teacher. You will learn the techniques and methods regularly used in our classrooms and be able to use that model, as you choose, in your classes at home.

WHAT IF PARENTS DON’T HAVE HOMESCHOOLING OR TEACHING EXPERIENCE?

The hybrid model of schooling takes the pressure off! Parents do not need to have teaching experience to enjoy success as homeschoolers. Our professional teachers introduce and teach new concepts to the students and then provide parents with detailed assignments and plans for the students to complete at home. With the teacher’s guidance, we are confident parents will feel more than equipped to instruct their child.

WE DON’T USE ABEKA. CAN WE STILL ATTEND GFA?

Yes! We use the Abeka curriculum because it has a 60-year reputation for solid, dependable results, particularly in reading. However, Abeka can serve as a foundation for almost any curriculum. You are invited to incorporate your curriculum of choice into your child’s academic journey. We only ask that your child attend class having completed the work previously assigned.

HOW DOES LUNCH WORK?

The students enjoy a pre-packaged snack (provided by GFA) at 10:00am. We do not eat lunch at the campus, but all students, siblings and parents are encouraged to have lunch with us at our recreation site, the Oriental Mini Park, at 12:15. Parents will need to bring their child’s lunch when they pick them up from campus at 12:00pm.

HOW MUCH WILL THE CURRICULUM COST?

The curriculum is $400 per year for each student. This fee is not included in tuition costs, but funding options may be available.

ARE YOU AFFILIATED WITH ANY CHURCH DENOMINATION?

No.  Although GFA meets at Oriental First Baptist Church, we are a non-denominational Christian school seeking to educate children with a Christian worldview. For more about our beliefs, please read our Statement of Faith.

IS THERE AN ENROLLMENT FEE?

Yes. There is a $100 enrollment fee due at the time of acceptance of your application.
